| Install IBM Radioman Production System in ALL BBC World Service Studios |
| Full systems design and installation service delivered to IBM UK as part of overall BBC “Go Digital” project to equip the whole of BBC World Service with a single integrated broadcast production system.
The completed system replaced all tape machines in all 99 studios in BBC Bush House and all production offices.
The project included the development of high availability master/slave pairs of computers for each studio to provide the specified level of reliability. Sophisticated health monitoring and changeover devices were developed to ensure interruption free changeover in the event of a failure. The manufactured systems were installed in all studios on a rolling programme with no disruption to ongoing programmes.
Over 800 custom designed and manufactured desktop listening and interface devices were manufactured to provide comprehensive interfacing and monitoring including telephone interfacing at each of the production desks in Bush House.
The system works in 42 different languages and supports all of the BBC World Service output.
